A Power of Attorney is a legal document representing your wishes to give another party permission to make decisions on your behalf on established matters. The person to whom you grant this authority (generally a family member or close friend) is known formally as your agent or attorney-in-fact. The person granting the authority is known as the principal. It is important to understand that by granting Power of Attorney to another party, you are not giving up your rights to make your own decisions. This granting of authority simply gives another permission to make decisions for you in your absence or as you deem fit. Additionally, you have the right to revoke this authority at any time.
Kelley Law Office is experienced in preparing Power of Attorneys for a variety of causes. We also specialize in Durable Power of Attorneys which allow the agent to continue to make decisions upon your behalf in the event you become incapacitated.
